You have renewed, haven't you??

Post by Phil_SK »

In just three weeks time the addresses will be sent to the mailing house for the March edition of CactusWorld.

It's really important that you get your renewals paid before this for several reasons. Firstly, so you get your March journal on time and secondly if you do it after the list has gone it's a real pain for the Membership Secretary, Tony Morris, as he has to manually address and post them separately.

So go and check your renewal slip isn't still inside December's journal, check your cheque book stubs or whatever, make sure it's definitely gone and if it hasn't please get it done soon. Thank you! :)

And if you're still not sure about whether to give Bradleya a go, remember you can see how good it was nearly 30 years ago here - and it's only got better since. Why not give it a try? (Early/late birthday present??)

I paid via the Internet (main web site) - it would be nice to get some confirmation that this has been received.

Also, Why aren't UK members allowed to pay via PayPal?

Hello,
I managed to pay twice last year, so eager to make sure I get the next magazine.

I'll renew when there is a regular meeting or social event in my area that I can go to.

For me, to meet other plant nuts is more important than the magazine.

So Julie you do not mind if other members subsidise the forum for you?

Well, if the BCSS doesn't want to pay to have a forum for anyone other than the members, then it's totally entitled to do so. I'm glad it's not, though.

Despite posting on plenty of forums over the years, the issue of funding them has never come up. However, if the Society asks non members and ex members who have moved and no longer have access to a local branch, to pay a small fee per year to be able to read/post, I'd be happy to do so. It would be highly unusual though, and I don't know of any other forums who charge any fee. I suspect it might put some people off. It could be voluntary if it's an issue for more than one person, one of which is a BCSS official :???:

To me, membership of something/anything is about meeting other people and ogling eachothers' plants, not sitting alone in your house reading a magazine.

And I think it might attract potential new members more easily if the forum wasn't shielded.

Can't travel to meetings or anything so look forward to receiving journal. This site is excellent, there should be some link to the forum on the front page though. I rejoined the Mamm Soc last month but am still waiting for the journal. On their website there is no actual forum.
