Amazing what you find when Spring Cleaning - unusual hybrid

Post by Chris L »

I'd forgotten I had this until I was Spring Cleaning yesterday.

I can't remember who gave it to me but they said it was a rare hybrid between Ortegocactus macdougallii and Obregonia denegrii.

Looks rather unusual and I am wondering what class it should go in for our next branch show.

There was one at the San Diego Show last year, didn't get a prize.

Very interesting!
Does it have tuberous or fibrous roots?

Interesting!
Let's see if mine will flower at the same time this summer, and I will try to get the same result.

Fooled me as I have an unnamed plant similar
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
