Looking like my Rebutia perplexa is the first one this season. Lots of buds. Small but definitely soon.

That Euphorbia xantii is very odd in a nice way.
The first Rebutia every year for me is this one , which came from Ralph originally, always way ahead of my various marsoneri clones. Can’t check the name at the moment though…

Turbinicarpus panarottoi (andersonii?) wins first prize for me this year. Two valdezianus plants following close behind though.

Is it R.marsoneri that gives the earliest Rebutia flowers or is there a Rebutia or even Aylostera that flowers earlier?
I find Rebutias flower a little earlier than Aylosteras in general (they tend to come from lower down where it is probably a little warmer earlier in spring).
I wouldn't like to say which particular species is earliest though. I've had an R. marsoneri, an R. violaciflora, and an R. wessneriana all open for over a week now.

R. violaciflora v. knuthiana - it's one of the ones I mentioned above.

It does seem to be one or other of the true Rebutia that flower first. I've got a R. minuscula indoors that is flowering now.
The rest generally follow on a couple of weeks later. I grow these plants where they only get modest amounts of sun- they flower
well but spination does not look anything like Ali Baba's plant. So I was wondering about the ID!

Mammillaria tepexicensis. This is a dwarf variety seed grown from Mesa Garden seed in the days when it was still Steve Brack.

That’s it! Thanks
