BCSS seeds have just started germinating - after about 3 weeks at 22-24c.

Great results! Did you apply any special treatment to those Maihueniopsis seeds?

Thanks Mat; I rubbed about half of them with a bit of 120 grit sandpaper; not sure yet whether it is the scarified or unscarified which have germinated... There are plenty of others which are not showing any signs of life yet!

Encouraging! I will be sowing the same seeds this coming week.

What are you growing them in Rob? It looks like fruit and nut mix!
Well done, anyway...

Thanks Ralph; just a (wet) mix of JI no2, pink molar clay and grit - and of course the large tephro seeds!

Some of mine, three weeks after sowing. The platyacantha have come up really quickly. Note the three lobed aoracanthus.
These have had no pretreatment at all. I’ve got a few other pots with no germination in.

They seem to develop quickly!

I don’t know where the society sourced the M platyacantha ‘longispinus’ seeds but I’ve just had close to 100% germination which is very unusual.
