Many years ago (1973) I met a cactus collector near Yuma AZ, that had this book in his library:

Me too!
I also have their earlier book from 1959, which is a very good read about their journeys in C&S habitats in Afica and the Americas, as well as much information on propagation and genera.

Varied collection of mostly cacti with some Agave and Aloes - space is always the problem!!

I was thinking of a pun around stuff upper lip to stiff finger tip, but it just sounded wrong!!!

I visited Worfield Gardens when I was a kid, and got Sir Oliver to autograph his Desert Plants book for me. The other thing I remember most about my visit was a bunch of (British) geriatrics dressed up in ponchos and sombreros, as a Mexican band playing music (I suppose for the tea room).

Reminds me of Cactus at the Castle in Lullingstone :grin:

Amazing old film, they were obviously made with tougher fingers in those days!
