Following Norbert’s Pterocactus seed obtained at the TSG meeting this year I thought I’d give a progress report on how I got on germinating them.

As you can see there are three pots with no germination but for the rest I have at least one seedling. It takes a long time before they make anything like typical growth.

Hi Mike; yes most of mine came up like cress. (And for those that didn't I've just noticed a couple from a different source that have germinated 18 months after their siblings, so I'll be hanging onto my non-germinated seeds.) On the 'takes while to reach their normal form' point then I wonder if this might be a shortcut, given that offsets root so easily. I had a slug attack my P skottsbergii seedlings, and I managed to save this one. As you can see it is already starting on its typical globular form, unlike those which survived the slug and are still in the seed try. It too was from seeds from the TSG mtg, so the same age as yours.
