Pterocactus fischeri

First time this one has flowered for me and definitely worth the wait! I love the primitive-looking flower and the fabulous deep wine-red colour. Also fascinated by the way the bud forms on the end of a new body segment. Will the whole lot wilt after flowering?

The label has ‘R.M’ on it - any ideas who / what this refers to?

I've not had p. fischeri flower before but if p. tuberosus is anything to go by then the flower will wilt and fall out leaving a segment with a slightly hollowed out end.

If that's what it stands for, I didn't write it. I dont have any Pterocactus numbers, although i have propagated P. fischeri and sold /swapped it in the past.

More likely it was from Ross Marriott. - I have had various Pterocacti from him in the past.

This was my plant but I'm sure I unfortunately never got round to propagating it before it died last year viewtopic.php?t=173183
