Sheffield Branch Show June 3rd & 4th

Post by MikeT »

It's Sheffield Branch Annual Show over the first weekend in June, Saturday 3rd June 2023 (12:00 md to 5:00 pm) & Sunday 4th June 2023 (10:00 am to 4:00 pm).

Venue: Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Dorothy Fox Centre

Free admission to the Botanical Gardens and to the Show. Plant sales, of course, and refreshments.

The Dorothy Fox Education Centre is near the Thompson Road entrance, direction here. Parking is limited.

More details and schedule (if you wish to enter) on the Sheffield website.

For Succulent interest in the Botanical Gardens, the cactus bed in the Pavilions (large glasshouse) and the South African bed (in Osborn's field) are both worth seeing, and there are also a few succulents in the Mediterranean Garden. Find them on the map.

We had a very successful show, good weather, plenty of visitors, few sales plants left at the end.
I only have photos of some of the entries:

Few of these left by the close:

Some very nice plants there Mike, good to see. The sales plants look very tempting! Thanks for posting.

Was a great event last year - shame I couldn't make it up from Nottingham this year.

Some cracking plants in the background caught my eye - I'm assuming a cyphostemma and maybe euphorbia bupleurifolia peaking above the sheet of paper?
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.

Correct on both counts, Ian. Cyphostemma juttae. The paper is the sheet with class details.
