Northern Cactus and Succulent Mart, 25 June 2022

Post by Simon S »

The Northern Cactus and Succulent Mart will be held on Saturday 25 June 2022. The organising committee has secured a much bigger and brighter venue with great facilities and passing public footfall. It is also closer to the M1 and M62 motorways, with free parking and entry.

Due to the size of the venue selling space should be unlimited. If you'd like to sell privately or commercially, please contact Peter Smith on smipt6@aol.com

Further details will be announced, but please pop this in your diaries. The venue is Holy Trinity Church Hall, Church Street, Rothwell, Leeds LS26 0QL.

Northern Mart 1 2022.jpg
Vendors confirmed at the Mart now include:
• Graham Charles
• Caistor Cacti
• David Quail
• John Carr
• Ian Armstrong
• Vana Pottery and caudiciforms
• Four local sellers

The venue is next to a Morrisons supermarket, so we expect a lot of passing trade and will be advertising locally. If you’d like to sell, either commercially or privately, please contact Peter Smith: smipt6@aol.com

One week to go until the second Northern Cactus and Succulent Mart! We have a new, bigger and brighter venue, with great facilities. Free entrance and free, abundant parking. We hope that you can make it. Having seen some of the plants in preparation, it'll definitely be worth it. Rumour has it that the kitchen will be in full swing too...

Another superb mart organised by the Yorkshire zone 3

Well done
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Even though there was no charge for entry, any idea of visitor numbers which is the figure needed to help sell this event to more nurseries next year.

Stuart, I've no idea of the numbers but it didn't seem massively busy, it may not be a question if the possible venue change which was mentioned towards the end of the day comes off. It would improve footfall hugely.

I did think it went quiet very quickly after the opening rush, but the South West Mart was on the same day so maybe some people half way between decided to go there instead.
Venue change maybe, I did think it was a little dark in parts and access not the best but everyone there seemed happy and it was nice to see old friends again.
