Unknown Opuntia species

Post by Ross M »

Hoping this is the correct place to post as opposed to the main forum. I obtained it at least 10 years ago as a small cutting and this is the first time it's flowered. It's in a 6" pan. Looking at the buds I thought the flowers were going to be pink!

Yes I would go with an O fragilis form/cultivar.

Thanks. I hadn't considered that possibility. I've got quite a few different fragilis but they're quite distinct with ovoid segments and central spines.

I believe some are polyacantha crosses. I have one a little like yours and will check it’s name tomorrow.

I have two with similar overall appearance. One is labelled ‘Frankfurt’ and the other ‘Freiburg’.
