This is lovely too. It is another unruly one for me (and a lazy flowerer). Do you prune this one in the autumn?

I have this labelled as P. valentinii (Puente Pyramides). The flowers don’t ever open up much more than this - is that normal? Sorry for poor photo, the flower colour is actually not that dark and is more orangey brown.

Al, all perfect, it's normal. The plants are on the local mountain near Puerto Piramides - where the bathers walk with flip flops.

No I don’t prune valentinii. I find it tends to be a somewhat untidy plant and has the least impressive flowers of all the Pterocacti but I do keep a couple for completeness sake.
