I'll maybe relieve the organisers of writing a reminder for tomorrow's talk and use this opportunity to ask whether there are plans to record Jakub's talk?
And the talk itself (as distributed in the newsletter):

Gareth Darbon comes from a family that grows cacti and succulents. He received his first greenhouse when he was only eight years old. Gareth was the youngest ever qualified judge and has now been judging cacti and other succulents for over 20 years.
In this talk, Gareth intends to give an interactive guide to identifying cacti and other succulents that we grow in our collections. The most common question on the Facebook group and forum is… “What is the identity of my cactus?”. Do you want to be able to play Sherlock Holmes and look for the tell-tale signs of each genus? If so, join us in Gareth's interactive session designed to help us identify those unknowns in our collections.

Re: Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday
Our talks take place twice a month on the first and third Tuesday with members and friends all equally welcome. Please contact the talks team at bcss.talk@gmail.com if you have any suggestions or ideas for talks or speakers, or indeed would like to give a presentation yourself.
Please remember that in the UK the clocks have recently changed from GMT to BST and moved forward one hour.
Topic: Wolfgang Borgmann - How plants get their names
Time: Tuesday 2 May 2023 at 7.30pm (BST)

Wolfgang Borgmann studied biology and some civil engineering. He now works in adult education, mainly in the field of corporate management systems. His hobby and interest in cacti and other succulents started as a schoolboy about 50 years ago.
His background in biology helps him to better understand the ecology of these plants, as well as questions about their relationships and naming. Thanks to his didactic experience, he is unperturbed by the prospect of teaching harmless hobbyists about nomenclature and taxonomy!
Wolfgang’s talk is primarily intended to explain why changes in the names of plants can occur, when they are obligatory and how, in other cases, one can opt for one of the existing choices, i.e., either stay with the familiar name or adopt a new name. Even if it is not always easy to recognise, there is a logic according to which the naming and classification of our favourite plants works from a scientific point of view. To make this understandable, some examples from the world of cacti and other succulents will be presented.

Re: Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday
If we are posting online talks, one might probably also mention the Annual General Meeting of tomorrow, which I believe includes two talks anyone can also remotely zoom in to. Also see https://bcss.org.uk/event/bcss-agm-2023/
Meeting schedule:
11:00 – 11:30 Welcome and Plant Sales
11:30 – 13:00 Annual General Meeting
13:00 – 14:00 Lunch and Plant Sales
14:00 – 15:00 Stonecrops: A Survey of the Crassulaceae, Dr Colin Walker
15:00 – 15:15 Comfort Break
15:15 – 16:15 Well-known Cacti from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Graham Charles
16:30 Close
I don't know if the zoom details are open to the public. But if they are, I am sure a BCSS representative will provide further details.

Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday
Zoom meetings have been operating for more than 2 years, they are ALWAYS open to all, thats why the log in details are freely available.
Paul is busy this weekend so the normal posting will be a little late so I put the reminder on early.

I was going to ask the same, are the talks from the AGM streamed? It would be certainly beneficial to many.

Re: Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday
I have been trying to enter the zoom AGM talk today after the lunch break, after successfully watching in the morning. Been waiting for "the host to let you in" for half an hour. In vain. How to gain more members? Any suggestions as to why I can't join?
