First time flowering from seed for this plant. Seems to be very variable in spination (hence all the names applied over the years) this one has dense white, relatively soft spines. Always good to get your first flower on a seed raised plant but I thought I might miss this fully open, as with all eagerly awaited flowers they always want to open when you're out at work!

Re: Mila caespitosa flowering
Well done. I've never got mine to flower. And your form is very attractive, I have to say. Did more than one seed germinate?

Re: Mila caespitosa flowering
Hi Ralph,
The seed came from Koehres, not sure how many in the packet or how many germinated originally but I know we had about 6 plants which we have gradually sold over the last few years.
Yes I think it is a very attractive plant, it seems to be wanting to stay low and not grow very upright. Hopefully we can get it in a large pan soon which should be a sight if we can keep it flowering every year!

Re: Mila caespitosa flowering
Thats a really nice flower and good looking plant. I haven't seen flowers on my mila caespitosa yet but its probably a bit young. The taxonomy of these seems confused but I have some seed grown plants of mila nealeana and another that has the name mila maritima.
