Oh, there are plenty of spiny things here - it's a pity that I'm not particularly fond of them - how do you handle a 1m tall and 60 cm wide monster? But after making some photographs I must admit, they are sculptural and the flowering ones even eye-catching. I'm sure, if I saw them in nature, I'd like them!

Spines and other Sharp Things - not that spines are necessarily sharp...
...even if they're quite long... ...or if they don't belong to a cactus.
On the other hand, some do qualify as sharp... ...or even vicious... ...even if they don't look too bad... ...then there are the showy ones... ...and even the non-cacti have some in that category...Mike T

I don't seem to have many spiny plants now but this one lives in the house so it was easy to photograph
