'He aint heavy its my Aloe' or 'Allo Allo whats all this then'
This miniature Aloe grows well in this old ornament. Lives in the bathroom. Well it is an unusual container/place for a succulent. Photo has not been doctored, straight from the digi camera. I used a small torch to highlight the plant. Taken using natural daylight in my dinning room.

Rogan, does that count as unusual - isn't that habitat?

pretty inhospitable place, and fairly unusual in my experience, there can't be much (any?) soil in there!
Re: Feb 2012 photo comp - a succulent plant in an unusual pl
Well, yes, it is a habitat picture, but still fairly unusual I think - I've never seen another one in a similar spot.Heather N wrote:Rogan, does that count as unusual - isn't that habitat?
However, if you read the title of this month's competition, it says nothing about habitat, pot, etc. - does it?
Just enjoy it for what it is: a pretty little plant in a dramatic setting...

I think its easy to forget that its a photographic competition ie best photo of the month, subject matter comes second.

Two digital photos taken of projected slides, so quality is poor, but first one shows an Opuntia sp. "in habitat" growing in cement type stuff on top of the giant pyramid thing some folks built north of Mexico city a while back, seen in second photo.

The fact that Armadillos carry leprosy should help prevent that. Or maybe not given that we grow plants that repeatedly stab us...This Armadillo died around 1880, I am not trying to encourage the use of them as pots.
