New Year Resolutions! plant-related ONLY

Post by Lindsey »

Just been thinking about 2012.... ....

Something to do: replace or rewrite that illegible label as soon as possible.

Something not to do (or not much, anyway): post chatty comments on the Photo Competition threads!

Something I recommend others to do: join the BCSS if you're not already a member... and join an e-Robin (how are they doing these days?) or a postal Robin if you are a member!

Hope this thread takes off... I've started another one in the Off Topic section for any resolutions that aren't about plants.

I'm likely to be busy for the next couple of weeks, not posting much, I'm sure you can guess why not.....
Ever hopeful, trying to grow plants from arid sunny climates in the UK!
Lithops, Haworthia, Adromischus, other south African succulents including Ceropegia and some Crassula.

When I get a nice break from work I will repot the amaryllis which has had several years in the same pot. I just need to dig the new bigger pot and soil out of the loft!

I'm also not going to grow seeds this year as I won't have time to look after them plus not really the right setup, they are going to a good home - someone with a heated lighted place for little plants to come into the world.

I'm also going to spend time getting my garden from looking like The Secret Garden to a cutivated garden!

I might even get around to clearing out the GH and making a space for the Opuntia. They can have their own pots then and stop snagging the net curtains.
Happy carrier of Forby Disorder - an obsession with Euphorbia obesa.

NB. Anyone failing to provide a sensible name for me to address them will be called, or referred to, as Fred.

I have only one resolution at the moment - grow more Rebutia!

One of the many genus that i have never really grown despite the many beautiful forms and flowers available... I must correct that

Try harder to give the plants I have got, greenhouse and garden, the conditions they need. Keep a watchful eye out for anything that does not look right and do something about it; particularly, mealy bug, RSM and vine weevil. Get the watering and feeding right. After that it should be easy and I can enjoy the plants and flowers!
Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

I would leave it there : no chance of storm damage , and no heating charges either .

I have a couple of 12 x 8 greenhouses to re-assemble some time , but they would have to be for cold use only , I can never decide on the best place for them as one would block light from my main greenhouse in the winter ( and that has ended up with permanent "temporary " staging . )
