Right hopefully this will be the first of a series of monthly competitions, just for fun no prizes.
It works like this the winner each month selects the title ( which can serious, whimsical or abstract) for and judges the next month, all the winners will be added to an Album on the photo gallery.
We'll start with "Spines". Good luck.

Re: August Photo Competition
Excellent idea Bill! I know it's just for fun but are we meant to take the photo in the month of the competition?
Re: August Photo Competition
Only if the title suggests so I.e. Flower of the month.

Looks like it's time to get the ball rolling ... Echinocactus polycephalus has nice spines. Click to see that the spines are actually fuzzy.

Here is my entry, not sure of the ID but I think it is a Lobivia.

Interested in cacti (particularly Echinopsis, Rebutia, Sulcorebutia, Lobivia, Gymnos and Chamaelobivia), Stapeliads, Sempervivums, and anything else that takes my fancy.

Re: August Photo Competition
This is a pic I used for our publicity leaflet. It's actually a small Ferocactus wislizeni.

Right, here are a couple of my efforts: first, the gorgeous red spines on Agave potatorum 'Kichiokan'
Next - the black spines of Agave parryi 'Cream Spike'
Can you tell these are some of my favourites!Diane - member of Kingston branch
