Interesting looking cross. As David says, I too would expect the damage to grow out reasonably quickly. Good luck with this.

Yep just found the page c'est francais.
Basically what the guy is saying is that it's new hybrid of possibly aristata x desciongsii (right spelling this time). He reckons it will make 6" in diameter but if planted in the ground will make a group of about 18".

Poor plant! I've been lucky with plants in the post so far.
