Forum access problems

Post by Diane »

I have had quite a few problems accessing the forum this week, and being logged out numerous times, which I’m finding rather tedious. I don’t think I’m alone either, so do post if you’ve had problems too. Rather compounded by having to have two different passwords for the website and forum, my iPad doesn’t distinguish which is which!

I suspect it may be due to recent resignations, but if many forum members are affected, there will be even less traffic to the forum.

Thoughts?

Same here Diane. A lot of time waiting to connect and then gateway timing out.

I’ve had no problems logging in but the drama this week has shown me I don’t have access to the members part of the forum I didn’t know existed. I’ve never been able to post in the For Sale forum either, potentially because I’m not recognised as a BCSS member.
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.

Paul has told me about this and he doesn't know what is causing it.

It could simply be (I am guessing myself) that there has been more traffic than normal due to various "things" going on and it is slowing the server down a bit.

As always the best way to report things is by contacting the internet team (please) through the right channels, as they (we) might not see anything written here.
[I realise that won't help at this particular time, but that is how it is, and part of the problem we've been facing.....]

Hi all,
Although I've stepped back from the coal face I am still keeping one eye on things until we get a better system in place which will hopefully be soon. Yesterday, it wasn't the Forum causing issues. The server itself had issues beyond our control, which I beileve are now fixed. It was affecting everything- forum, website, branch websites, emails. So, nothing to do with the recent resignations!

This Forum has no administrator, and needs one. It is not difficult, not a lot of work, and only needs a basic understanding of computers. Training will be given. Please volunteer.
