Three years since this last flowered - trying to work out what I did differently this year!

Pterocactus tuberosus in flower
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!
Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.

Re: Pterocactus tuberosus in flower
When I bought this plant, it must have been quite old because the root ball almost filled the pot it is currently in. The top growth had broken off from the roots.
The top growth flowered that year and is in bud this year on its new roots.
The root ball did almost nothing for two years and has gone crazy this year with new segments and flowers.

Re: Pterocactus tuberosus in flower
Some people take all the top growth off each year to help flowering.
I don't and the photo is from 2 years ago.
