It's getting tricky to think of a suitable topic. Most of my first few thoughts have already been done, when I look back at previous topics. How about 'the blues'? Scope for some cacti and some other succulents. Even some scope for flowers, though not much in the way of blue cacti flowers, I must admit.
So, is October a good month for 'The Blues'?

I can't see much blue in my greenhouse, this rather scruffy echeveria is the best I could find so far and I managed to resist the temptation to alter the colour using photoshop

This is what I came up with after a quick look round the greenhouse.
Agave guadalajarana
Echeveria reported to come from near a site of E shaviana but suggests it could be a hybrid, maybe with E simulans
Echeveria subsessilis
Echeveria secunda
Agave utahensis var nevadensisAgave guadalajarana

Obsessive Crassulaceae lover, especially Aeoniums but also grow, Aloes, Agaves, Haworthias and a select number of Cacti.

I couldn't resist the temptation today, I took some pictures for other threads on the forum and while I had one of them open in Lightroom I just moved one of the white balance sliders....
The "real" colour is more like this....

This is the view from our kitchen window. I feel a bit like my Mexican friend. A bit tired, but content to wait.

Re: October 2014 the blues
I have a few "blue" plants - this is Agave parryi ssp. truncata ( still a small plant):
A variegated form of Agave isthmensis:
Echeverias are good for blue colours, this is Echeveria 'Blue bird':
A nice variegated form of Echeveria subsessilis:
and Euphorbia polygona 'Snowflake' is a very pale blue too:

Re: October 2014 the blues
Lots of desirable plants on show, and some good photography. Christer's "cactus" came very close, but for combination of plant and artistry, the winner is lzrddr's Agave parryi truncate.
Over to you, lzrddr.
