Re: August 2013 - Haworthia
Here's haworthia lockwoodii, I'm not sure why I'm growing this as it doesn't look much but it's doing quite well for what was originally a tiny little plant from Bob wellens, now in a 23/4 " pot.
Is this haworthia bayeri, not a very pretty one.
A rather nice haworthia maughani, ex mr kobayashii
haworthia emleyae cv ex harry mak

Now that h. lockwoodii really looks like cabbage
No offense Tina, I'm intrigued by it's looks, will add it to my wish list. Thanks for showing it.

Hi Antun
I'm not sure about it really but read an article that they are challenging to grow so thought I'd give them a go ( I have two).
Really they are just a curiosity I suppose , how could you put it in a show - looks like an odd onion, wonder how much bigger they get ?.

More than just a curiosity, Tina, but certainly a 'niche' plant. Here is the niche where they grow in habitat:Tina wrote:Really they are just a curiosity I suppose , how could you put it in a show - looks like an odd onion, wonder how much bigger they get ?.
Certainly put it in a show - a 4 inch specimen will do very well in a restricted pot size Haworthia class.
... and did you hear the story of the Haworthia enthusiast's wife who thought she was helping her husband by removing all the 'dried-up' leaves from his plant - was she popular or what??!!

Re: August 2013 - Haworthia
Plants in my collection that I really care about are mostly those weird looking ones. I guess reason might be that I have something in common with them
Anyway, I just moved it closer to the top of the list...
P.S. You have only two? Tsk, tsk, I thought you said 4-5-6 of a kind is your regular state in GH...
P.P.S. Lets not hijack the topic more than this

Just one of my favourites, also from Gerhard Marx's collection of unique hybrids/cultivars:

Very nice well grown plants as always Sylvia. I do not think your last plant is what is commonly grown as the cv H. 'Kegani' but I am confident it is another well known Japanes cv that goes under the name of H. 'Yumedono'.

Hi Phil:
Thank you for your comments. I am sure you are right about the last Haworthia, I must have misnamed it somehow and didn't notice it until after I posted it when it was too late to alter it.
