Definately a tough class to define, but this looked pretty purple, to my eye at least, in the greenhouse yesterday.

Matthew,
Your one is huge! That would need my greenhouse by itself! Certainly appreciated the "accident". Such variation in this category. Great photos.
Regards,
Jane O

Re: JULY Photo Comp - "The Color Purple"
What fun this has been! And not an easy one to judge, either.
Many thanks to everyone who has entered - some stunning shots here.
Special mentions go to Morgan's Beauty for his beautiful Echinocereus perbellus. Dragonlil's seedpod is a nice variation on the theme, but nowhere near purple enough.
Maurice Vaughan's entry of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze is a humorous take, but sorry - NAS!! (Not according to schedule) and he was truly great!
Finally I was left with two contenders, and have had great difficulty deciding which to choose....
Mal H's Echinocereus melanocentrus is the WINNER!! Yes, somewhere in the centre is deep purple!
Commiserations go to Jim Mercer as runner-up for his eye-searing Trichodiadema rogersii!
So, over to you Mal....

Re: JULY Photo Comp - "The Color Purple"
Ha Ha, many thanks Diane, I am glad my picture was not judged too clever-clogsy.
Well, I am going to stick with a colour theme since recently, when looking around my greenhouse as the flowers diminished, I noted how many shades and variations of green there were, not including the green flowers! So with the broadest remit my theme for August is "Shades of Green".
Happy posting.
