We are now only just over 4 weeks away from the Mesemb Show. I have sent out schedules to all previous entrants but if you haven't received yours please send me a PM and the omission will be rectified immediately.
If you haven't been to this show before why not correct the omission this year; or perhaps you are among those who don't think mesembs are exciting; you could come and see them in their glory and perhaps change your opinion. Perhaps you would like to enter a few plants this year and haven't been able to get a schedule at your Branch or elsewhere. Send me a PM for one or phone 0161 643 8932.
Date: Saturday October 8th.
Venue: St Thomas More Church Hall, Kirkway, Alkrington, Middleton, Manchester. M24 1PP
We are literally 3 minutes away from Junction 20 of M60 in North Manchester - well away from the rush and tear of central Manchester. Alternatively you come to the show and let the family enjoy a day shopping in Manchester; bus numbers 17, 18 and 163 all go to the city centre along the A664 which is the main road as you leave the motorway.
Open to the public from 10.30am
Open for competitors to stage their exhibits from 8.30am
Refreshments, hot and cold available from 8.30pm for exhibitors and helpers; from 10.30am for visitors until 1.30pm
Judging from 11am by Suzanne Mace; viewing plants may continue during judging but please keep clear of classes being judged at the time.
Plant sales: Gordon Foster (Oak Dene Nursery) & Tony Irons, Members sales - mesemb seedlings for sale
Books: Keith Larkin
Afternoon slide talk: Whicher's View of South Africa
Show closes at 3.45 to 4pm
