A new member, I've already posted a question in the forum, so this is a tad late.
Anyway, I'm originally from Wales, lived in England from when I was about nine until I moved to Belgium in 1971. Lived there for 35 years and very good it was, too. Osteoporosis forced me to search better climes, however, and in the summer of 2006, my wife and I moved to Guardamar del Segura, in the south of the province of Alicante in the Community of Valencia, south-eastern Spain.
A friend brought be a bowl of cacti as a "welcome to Spain" gift and I now have some 200 plants, plus quite a number of other succulents.
It's easy enough to find some fine specimens here, though it is less easy to identify them, as the sellers do not bother to name them, usually just providing a sticker that reads "Cactus variado" -- not very helpful! I keep the cacti in pots; they stay outside all year and seem to thrive on it.
I I have photos of some of the cacti at various places, including:

to the Forum, David. I expect it is much warmer in Spain than in Wales, as I sit here also watching the Spanish Grand Prix!

Hi David
Welcome to the forum.
Tony, I'll have you know we are basking in glorious sunshine here in North Wales, far to hot to go in the greenhouse

You are lucky, Bill. It is one of the coldest days of the spring down here in Kent. Not very conducive to being outside, and the greenhouses aren't much warmer either! Take care, Tony.

Hi David, to the forum. I'm sure it is much warmer where you are, than it is here! Back to winter, it feels like!

Thank you all for the welcoming messages.
Just to give you an idea, it is close to 19.30 as I write this, and also close to 25 degrees Celsius outside…

Hi David....You have some beautiful healthy looking plants. Looks tropical where you are. Here in Colorado, USA we will be expecting our first snowfall before to long.

Flavio, snow? It would be an exaggeration to say it never snows here, as I believe some flakes fell in 1957, but, yes, it is generally a lot warmer here than in most of the rest of Europe. I believe the official description of this particular area is "Steppe", which is one step up (if you'll pardon the expression) from Mediterranean.
