Your version may be true but perhaps "Advice on how to care for these plants enthusiastically given on request." would seem a little more consensual? Unless you are giving out leaflets on entry?

Is it not free entry this year?

I thoroughly enjoyed going to this last year, got there nice and early. Let’s hope the covid situation improves to allow more in the building.

I best start thinking about what I should put on my wants list.

This is is an update on the forthcoming SOUTH WEST CACTI, SUCCULENT & EXOTIC PLANT FAIR for June 25th 2022.

This will now be the Eleventh year that this event has taken place at our normal venue,

The Portishead Youth Centre,

1, Harbour Road, Portishead, Bristol. BS20 7DD.

This is just 1.5 miles from Junction 19 [Gordano Services] M5.

The venue will be open from 9.30-1.30 , entry fee is £2.

The Snack Bar will be open throughout the entire event.

The whole of the ground floor will be occupied, with stands from Traders coming from different areas of the UK which we hope will not be affected by restrictions if Covid rules need to be applied as it was in 2021.

A list of those booked in are listed below.

COASTAL CACTI & SUCCULENTS.....Chris has a beautiful Nursery in Rooksbridge, Somerset and this will be his 2nd year attending our event. They also provide a landscaping service for Arid plants in your gardens if required.

THE CACTUS SHOP [RALPH NORTHCOTT].......Ralph is well established here and can be seen around the country selling at similar large events, as well as to visitors in his North Devon glasshouse.....well worth talking to him with his wealth of knowledge.

TONY IRONS CACTI........I always try to provide a good selection of plants to buyers which my son Richard can help you select. I will also include a range of larger plants and of course Lithops plants, which I specialise in growing.

MINT PLANTS.....Hayley is attending this event for the 3rd time round, with a selection of other Exotic plants but with a leaning towards quirky Arid plants. This year she will have moved into her new store in Bristol from the Cotswolds with 3 times the size of her previous stores.

OGIE PLACIDO........Those that attended last year will have met Ogie for the first time, with his wide range of all Exotic plants, but this time round he has doubled the size of his stand due to the popularity and welcome he received in 2021.

COACH HOUSE CACTI.......David and his wife have been attending the event for a number of years and since he first came, having only 1 greenhouse his business and show events have greatly expanded......he blames that on me [ I don't know if that's a compliment or not ] ! Anyway have a good look at his unique plants.

BENJAMIN TURNER.......his 2nd year here and we are pleased to welcome him back with his wide range of small & large plants. Good to have enticed him to come up from the Southampton area again.

CLIFF MORCAM......Good to see him back with Debbie and there ever changing array of choice plants. He moans about the long trip from Cornwall but he always seems to go home happy....welcome back.

ALAN WEADON......is one of our local growers who grows the choice, slow growing plants like Turbinicarpus, Sclerocactus and so on.....anything you need to know about these plants, then this is the person to ask.

WOODSIDE CACTI......Good to welcome back Carlos & Terri from the Norwich area. They have a wide range of plants plus the biggest range of Arid plant miscellaneous items available at the show....good to see you both again.

PHIL WHITE......Phil is well known for his choice plants and is well worth seeking out. Only a short trip from Wiltshire for this seller.

PAUL BOND......From just over the border in Wales Paul always has a good range of those plants not often seen for sale, but propagated himself in his large glasshouse. Always good to meet up with him.

WILLIAMS CACTI.....Craig comes down from Yorkshire and has been a regular since the Fair started. If you are into caudex plants and related choice succulents, then this is the chap to see.

I'm glad to be able to offer many of the sellers that you never see at any other show within the U.K., so why not make the effort to attend and meet them ? I feel its good to cater for something a bit different from the normal.

Neighbouring roads and car parks are easily available for car parking.

Please make a note in your diary, so that you do not miss out on attending.

I look forward to being able to welcome you all at the door, on the day.

Cheers

Tony.

Is there anything happening further south west from Bristol? I would love to attend but Portishead is a long way from south Devon and even further from our friends in Cornwall.

I was so impressed with The Cactus Shop & Ralph that I booked a hotel in Devon so that I could go back there the next year.
I live in Essex.

Just to update you on another nursery attending our Fair, namely...............

Just 3 weeks to go now and all the Traders have been updated on arrangements for the day.

We are looking forward to a good turnout again with plenty of advertising having been made, with last minute posts to social media now to come online to boost the Fair.

Looking forward to meeting everyone on the day and another good event.

Cheers

A few more details to help visitors, namely.......................

This year we have free parking on the Outdoor Sports Court which is attached to the Portishead Youth Club where we hold the Annual Fair.

I would just ask that drivers position their cars sensibly, to avoid blocking in other users.

Also this year the Fair will be even more card friendly. Most Traders now take card payments as well as cash plus the Bristol branch are also able to take card payments themselves.

The onsite cafe also takes card payments, in fact its probably quicker and more hygienic if you do use a card !

See you all on the day

Another update.....

Although Hayley from Mint Plants had booked a stall at the Fair she has had to cancel as she is booked in the previous week at the NEC Gardeners World Event in Birmingham where she will be featuring a big selection of cristate, variegated & monstrose cacti & succulents. It just works out that statistically the staff would be too worn out to manage both events. She still hopes to attend the Fair, but in a private capacity on the Saturday.

We have added Mark Durgan from Bristol as a seller, who needs to sell approx 150 of his choice plants due to moving house and cannot now house them properly.
