Re: Agave talk & pictures
Great plants and nice variety in the variegation. I’m kind of jealous as all of my attempts with variegated VRs have been unmitigated failures…

Re: Agave talk & pictures
The clay balls have been part of my potting mix for a few years now. They often end up doubling as a top dressing though since I tend to use quite a lot of it in my mixture so there will always be a fair amount loose at the top of the soil. I mix it with sharp sand, regular grit and compost as it se...

Agave parryi var. truncata ‘Huntington’ repotted with only minor impalements… C8486580-B7F6-4C37-8715-BFBD12C00AA3.jpeg This has grown very quickly for A. parryi. It was given a much bigger pot in spring last year but had already filled it by the start of this summer. It also had 2 offsets that both...

A few more uncommon Agaves: Agave parryi var. couesii from central Arizona. Very interesting even as a small plant but still not very common for some reason. Re: Agave talk & pictures
Agave pelona And here's another of today's repots. I got this from Tina an incredible 13 years ago, so I'd describe this as being glacial in its growth rate - anyone else find this?  For scale this is now in only an 18 cm diam. pot. BTW the A. gentryi/montana came out of the pot that...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Some of favourite Agaves from Northeastern Mexico enjoying the sun: My biggest A. montana. This has grown rather nicely so far this year after being given a much bigger pot last year. Very dangerous terminal spines and a dense rosette mean it’s not an easy plant to weed around  DB237159-636D-...

Re: Agave talk & pictures
Have you ever unpotted it to look what state the roots are in? If it doesn't have any living roots then the plant won't be able to absorb sufficent water and minerals which might explain why its regressing. I don't have any experience with Agave chazaroi (not very hardy here) but have had a couple o...

Re: Cactus IDs please
Again, thanks for the responses. If they are Trichocereus/Echinopsis terscheckii then they certainly have a very long way to go to match Paul's plant
