Re: Smaller Sulco. flowers

Thanks Simon. I grow them in a two thirds aggregate/one third JI compost mix. No shading and no winter heat

ralphrmartin wrote: Mon Jun 20, 2022 5:32 pm Are they normally that small? Or have you just been stingy with the water, Ross?
Usual fortnightly or thereabouts watering Ralph. The other flowers are normal sized so not sure what's what🤔

Re: Sulcorebutia melanorubra

I'll get a body shot once the flowers are over (it's a bit shrunken just now due to the flowers wicking moisture out of the plant.)
It's flowers (multiple layered petals) are different from any of my other plants, although it's possible I just don't pay enough attention 🙄!

Re: Small but nice

Lovely colour of flower contrasting with the dark body. Very nice Ray👍
What substrate is it growing in, out of interest?

Sulcorebutia melanorubra

I obtained this cutting from John Carr a couple of years ago. It's a new name for me and unfortunately I don't have any details of where he collected it. It's flowers are a bit unusual (and difficult to photograph due to their colour). They have multiple layered petals with a definite metallic hue!

Re: Pterocactus fischeri KP161

I bought it from a grower in Poland a few years ago, along with a handful of other Pterocactus. This is the first time I've flowered it. I can propagate it up for anyone that's interested 😁

Pterocactus fischeri KP161

Flowering this afternoon. I quite like the colour of the flowers in addition to the plant body colour
