Re: Dorstenia hildebrandtii

Colin

I'm afraid that plant's a real weed! It shoots its seeds everywhere, and soon you will have loads of them. That's what happened to me, anyway.

Now here's a nicer Dorstenia: Dorstenia ellenbeckiana.:) You can even see it shooting its seeds out.

Re: Identification of a Gymnocalycium please!

I'm not really a Gymno expert, but I would go for a form of Gymnocalycium damsii, or if not, something closely related.

Strange, whenever I have seen Chinosol before, it was yellow, not purple, and called ChinOsol, not Chinsol...

Re: Chinosol - where from?

Ian, using Cheshunt Compound is not a good idea, in my experience. It is pretty alkaline (conatining Ammonium salts), whereas most cacti and many succulents like quite acid conditions. I tried it once, and perhaps as you are alluding too, it may have killed more seedlings than the fungus it was supp...

Re: Chinosol - where from?

Uhlig Kakteen (in Germany) sell it

http://www.uhlig-kakteen.com/accessories.html

and in general, they deliver to the UK (assuming Chinosol is OK to go through the post - I have bought books and plants from them in the past, but not Chinosol).

It is a really fantastic flower, even compared to other stapeliads, which on the whole show an amazing range of colours and shapes. Perhaps sticking it in a very bright ...

Re: Edithcolea grandis Solved

I keep mine in my office in work, where it is rarely below 20C (computers running all day and night), and water it once a month or so in winter.

This is after losing the one in my greenhouse - but which did flower for me before it expired.
