There is an interesting story about Edenbridge show (2005) which can only be repeated across the Atlantic - or if I'm bought enough beers at ELK!!

Re: Amazing plants!
Well spotted - they were Woody's but he sold his entire nursery and collection a year ago (the only way he could move from California to New Mexico) but I'm sure it wont be long before he's back selling again. If I had to come up with a list of top 10 speakers he would be well out on top - plus our ...

Re: ELK
I'll be on one of the early ferries from Calais, probably about 7ish, pity ELK isn't as well organised as Havering Mart. It's usually a general mad rush as soon as the doors open with nurseries trying to set up at the same time as buyers are flooding in. The start time on the ELK website can best be...

Re: Mammillaria formosa the new Ariocarpus?
Hi , Yes I know that along with Jane I've got a flower shop (by default because it started in 1982 as all indoor plants and all these annoying customers turned it into a florists) but don't call me a florist! OK so I'm typing this in a shop surrounded by a few leftover flowers but florist!! how did ...

Re: Mammillaria formosa the new Ariocarpus?
Hi again, I forgot to mention that I start all plants on ebay at ?2.50 and if only one bidder, the plant will sell for ?2.50. This happens to a few plants each week. Since my last post I've had a couple of messages from other nurserymen so I'll repeat - ebay isn't the only place to obtain plants. On...

Re: Mammillaria formosa the new Ariocarpus?
Hi all, Thought I'd add my bit here as its my plant you're talking about. Whilst it's a nice plant, grown from habitat seed I collected ages ago, I agree the price has gone too far. When I post it I'll almost certainly add something else in with it. Geoff is quite correct, I sold him one of the same...

Re: Tickling sticks
When I'm pollinating Aloes and Haworthias I just hold the two flowers and push them gently together. I'm sure they enjoy it much more than a quick poke by a cat's whisker!

Re: Lobivia Grandelucia Cristata
It comes from a wholesale nursery that used to be at Ash in Kent (not Ken Burke) but another nursery in the same village who used to get annoyed if I even mentioned his existance at BXCSS talks!! He used wooden labels and Ken Burke used to sell large crests on their own roots from him, the Lobivia w...

Hello All, bit late but got there eventually
Hi, I've been meaning to write something here for ages but, like many collectors I speak to it's easy to sit back and read things here without participating. I've been in the BCSS since 1975,ex Yorkshireman now living on the South Coast, have gone through the normal cactus ageing process ie. start w...
