I wouldn't want to try this. But how about propagating from seed after it flowers? Or will seed not come to type?

Doesn't look right for aculeata, probably ferox or marlothii. Aculeata has white bases to the spines.

Pity. Wilko's is one of the only places I see Succulents for sale. It looks nice Get yourself across to York .... two street traders .... one outside St Helens church / Bettys tearooms .... the other in Parliament Street / Shambles market ... both daily ... with cacti and succulents .... some fine ...
