Pilosocereus ID
This is a recent acquisition, I think it's Pilosocereus pachycladus, but can anyone either confirm this or give an alternative, please?
Sorry, the flower isn't focussed too well.- Sun Jul 02, 2023 9:10 pm

Re: Help to ID this please
I'd also go for X Alworthia Black Gem. The colour varies enormously depending on exposure to sunlight, and how new the growth is (starts green then colours up); and the description of offsetting freely fits well.

Re: Sheffield Branch Show June 3rd & 4th
We had a very successful show, good weather, plenty of visitors, few sales plants left at the end.
I only have photos of some of the entries:
Few of these left by the close:

Do you think it could be 'Meisterstuck', Ralph? That's he other white flowered cultivar that comes to mind.

Re: Sedum Palmers 'rayones'
Thanks, Paul
Essex probably gets as cold as Sheffield in winter, and the Potteries as wet as Sheffield, so I really must give this a go. Time to take some cuttings.

Re: Sedum Palmers 'rayones'
The outdoor life looks to be suiting it, good colouring on those leaves. I have ssp emarginatum, which is fine in an unheated greenhouse - also in flower now. ICN doesn't recognise emarginatum and rubromarginatum as valid subspecies. I haven't thought of trying it outdoors, but certainly looks as if...

Re: Rough I.D. please
I'd go for oxygona (which has priority over eyriesii and multiplex as far as naming goes, they're different names for the same plant).

Re: Temp. data
Looks like you had it a bit colder than here, although we did hit -6C in December at least. Interesting that the December cold spell doesn't really stand out in that set of stats, except maybe duration of freezing conditions. I feel like it was by far the harshest period of weather this winter, bot...
