I'm guessing the plant is only a couple of cm across? Mine have produced flowers when ridiculously small.

Cyrill uses the species name soehrensii for all the plants in this genus http://tephroweb.ch/tu/tukulturpflanzen.htm soehrensii being the type of the genus. With so many names based on vague and/or incomplete descriptions without a type or location information or a photo thre's something to be said ...

That's disappointing: there is no validly published name for this in Puna.

You'll come across this under the name Cumulopuntia rossiana more often than pentlandii.

Can you not just use a mains-powered fan? Or use a transformer to power your PC fans? Solar seems a bit complicated and expensive.
