Re: Puna clavaroides

Does it have a scent?

Reading between the lines, very few people sniff flowers and yet many cacti flowers have very pleasant, sometimes gorgeous, scents. Many produce more of what I would call a(n) (pleasant) olfactory sensation, rather than an obvious scent.

It's a slow grower and sits in a a 6cm pot...

Slow grower?

It just doesn't grow very big. Compared to Aztekium and quite a few others, it romps along.

Corrected -
.......... It's just a matter of time before Dutch nurseries start to grow it in Indonesia or equatorial/central-southern Africa as a houseplant once seed becomes available in quantity.

Re: Calling Latin scholars

If the name is meant to translate as the equivalent of English raddish, just as a simple example, the origin - the specific name, has no gender itself as it is an adjective associated with a place. What it will depend on is the gender of the genus. Unfortunatley Google Translate is of little help - ...

Hmmm - that is huge. I'd be looking out for a sale!!! A real McCoy, fancy "Bonsai bowl" would be eye-wateringly expensive.
Ever looked in second-hand/junk shops for a wash-stand bowl, from a set? Worth a look if you are passing any.

Re: Adeneum obsesum- talking point

It could do with a better pot for display but at this size they aren't cheap. Not sure what size that is, but local garden centres round here have offered clay 10 inch half pots for £3.50 for at least the last 2 years - several pallet-loads have appeared each autumn and sold over 2-3-4months, at a ...
