Agreed. That's why I try to grow some common "grafting stock speciei" as collection plants hoping to see them flowering. The first nice gift was from Eriocereus jusbertii.

Re: Talking of ugly ducks...
Those ugly ducks pray only for bigger space and more water with fertilizers, then will be no uglies anymore.

Original E (N) ackermannii has smaller bright red flowers, wider opened.

Re: I.D Please
Chamaelobivia is the same size or a bit thicker than common Chamaecereus, soft and clumping abundantly.
It will be better to show scale (eg in cm) or something to compare the size.
Seems to be large and hard enough plant.
I bet the flowers will be big yellow.

Re: Aporocactus flagelliformis cultivation
One of my favorite cacti. Very hardy and very thankful plant. Abundant flowering each spring after very cold and dry overwintering. It was damaged a year ago when a mugger tried to pass on the dark in our house... Brave 32 y old bodyguard... PS Sorry pic was in wright position, don't know what power...

It was gone because of long low temps. South american and south mexican cerei don't like it.
