Rooting Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. Fukurokuryuzinboku
Hi Everyone! I think I caught the C&S bug (knocking on wood for no real bugs though!). My two highly anticipated Myrtillocactus geometrizans cv. Fukurokuryuzinboku (I'll use MGF from now on) arrived earlier today (I know, a silly one, but I refrained myself for about 3 weeks after seeing one for...

Re: Faucaria seedlings' stems thinning and whole plant later "dissolving" into mushy blob
Thank you all! Looks like the general consensus is I haven't done anything terribly wrong except 1) mixing species/genera together and 2) keeping them sealed/covered for too long after initial germination. Easy to fix when I sow each one in a separate 2x2 inch container. The current container has ho...

Faucaria seedlings' stems thinning and whole plant later "dissolving" into mushy blob
Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting ready to sow some seeds I acquired from the BCSS and MSG seed lists, but, quite luckily I must say, I first sowed a few other packets ("Faucaria mix", Crassula Buddha's temple and Graptopetalum rusbyi) and need to ask for some advice. I have used an oven st...

Re: Pachyphytum compactum foliage reduction over winter?
Regret the cristate part dried up last summer, the normal offsets probably sucked all of the goodness out of it! I am afraid this might be happening to my plant as well, the cristate part is not looking very healthy. I will take care of it as soon as the soil dries up so that there is at least a li...

Re: Pachyphytum compactum foliage reduction over winter?
4+ easily! I got a not ideal, but pretty decent refund on this, so in the end I am okay with the outcome. Maybe just a little disappointed I need to chop it into pieces, but life goes on (well, I wish this was my biggest problem ever)!

Re: Pachyphytum compactum foliage reduction over winter?
Leaves won't regrow on the bare stems but if you cut the long stems back it may branch from the cut ends and make a more compact plant. It's very easy to grow with plenty of sun. Stuart That's my plan now, although I was hoping to get a nice, big "centrepiece" for my collection... Maybe i...

Gutted I missed the talk! Are they recorded and available somewhere afterwards? I would love to catch up on some of them.

Re: Pachyphytum compactum foliage reduction over winter?
[...] The leaves come off this plant quite easily and I wouldn't fancy posting the plant on the left without half the leaves falling off in the post. The plant as it looks now looks a bit past its sell-by date, I'd take it apart and root the cuttings. It's correctly named but not really living up t...

Pachyphytum compactum foliage reduction over winter?
Hi Everyone, I have a question with regard to a newly acquired Pachyphytum compactum. The plant was purchased on eBay (from an established seller, as if it changes anything...), so all I could assess beforehand were the photos, with which I am usually okay, especially as the auction description clea...
