Re: Aloe ramosissima: sowing failure
I've sown a few types of Aloe with varying results, under identical or similar conditions - close to 100% germination, after only a few days followed by 100% survival (A. ferox), patchy, sporadic germination with a few rotting away (A. tomentosa), quick germination of most with a few rotting (A. str...

Re: mesemb seed storage
The Kew Millennium seed bank stores seeds at -20C. See Kew seed bank I've checked your link - this gives more information http://www.kew.org/science-conservation/collections/millennium-seed-bank/saving . From this it is apparent that Kew only stores seeds at sub-zero temperatures after careful eval...

Re: Seeds arrived
I think many of us with smaller collections would, in principle, like to make big seed orders. However, substitutes make a lot of sense if you've either got a very tight budget, or are very tight for space. Or maybe don't have much spare time. So you decide you only have the time / space / money for...

Re: Succulents wanted for TV! A shed is also a requirement.
The British Cactus and SUCCULENT Society is supposed to cover all succulents , including the sub group commonly known as cactus. Cacti really get a free pass by virtue of the fact that they're prominent in the title due to being the majority interest of society members (by a weighted margin of 73% ...

Re: Updated seed lists
I wonder how long it is taking for people to receive orders from ADBLPS? I ordered with payment on 14th Dec, received a confirmation on 15th Dec saying the order would be sent at the beginning of January. On 21st January I enquired about the order, and received a reply 2 days later saying my order w...

Re: Cacti on TV
Xerophilia had a run two year ago (16th of February 2014) on Youtube... we published first a "general presentation" and subsequently individual presentation clips for No. 8, No 9 and No. 10. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClcj96JMnxJZ59XIsZmex2Q It was just an attempt, but it didn't rea...

Re: Grafting stock
A few people seem to rate Selenicereus.
Has anyone tried S. spinulosus as a stock? Seems like it would be extremely hardy - although it never seems to be offered for sale.
