Chinese National Botanic Garden in Beijing

Today I have been visiting the Chinese National Botanic Garden in Beijing, and amongst many other interesting plants (mainly Chinese), they have quite a few cactis and succulents. Re: First flowers of the year

Is it R.marsoneri that gives the earliest Rebutia flowers or is there a Rebutia or even Aylostera that flowers earlier? Mine has had a good show too. I also find Cheiridopsis speciosa to be a reliable flowerer, with a vivid purple flower, quite differnt to C. umbosa.

Ornithogalum / Albuca for ID

This plant popped up as a volunteer in some bulbs I have, and its a very robust plant. The most striking thing is that the long bracts on the flower spike make it look like an ear of wheat. The flower stem is 50cm+ tall. Can anyone name it for me please? Its still in bud now, but if a picture of the...

Re: First flowers of the year

I wont count my Crassulas, many of which have been flowering over the winter, nor any of my bulbs, but apart from a couple of early Rebutias and Turbinicarpuses and a few Dorstenias, I had these today: Euphorbia aesthenacantha IMG20240322113447.jpg Euphorbia xantii IMG20240322114501.jpg Euphorbia ph...
