Re: Not an Echinopsis, and not even a flower, but an odd Haworthia truncata 'Mammoth' with its own satellite dish!

A quick update on this, I have a couple of nice, tiny plantlets (I hope that's the right term at least) from leaf cuttings as a backup and even the wee satellite dish grew some roots! Oddly, the roots seem to be growing from the end of the flower stalk I left, something that might need some attentio...

Edinburgh is only a stone throw away, isn't it? Maybe more in a Highland games style, but still only a throw!

Re: Photologues cont. - Giza, Egypt

Thanks a lot! To finish the informative aspect, on photographs above are the Muhammad Ali mosque and the walls of the Citadel of Saladin in old Cairo (with the aforementioned mosque inside).

Re: Photologues cont. - Giza, Egypt

Other in-topic plants used quite keenly in landscaping were various (common I imagine) Aloes, Agaves, Euphorbia milii and palms, which shouldn't surprise. Photographs aren't of the greatest quality, but you can spot the plants for sure. 20240411_012953.jpg 20240405_150956.jpg 20240405_155508.jpg

Re: Photologues cont. - Giza, Egypt

Thanks Mat. Any insight as to why there are so few succulents? Hi Ralph, I somehow missed your question. I did not explore much, just did a little circle around the pyramids' complex finishing slightly "off piste" at the end. That is where I found that lonely Zygophyllum and actually quit...

Re: North West Cactus Mart 2024 (Saturday 4th May)

Slightly off topic, but what a poor idea to block simple right click copying from a website (was just going to check the exact location of the mart). Parking is very limited on the site ... but at the weekend the parking across the road outside the shopping mall (Tesco et al) is usually good and la...

Re: April 2024 - Bursting out of the pot

I am afraid I'm nowhere near, but just spotted this H. truncata 'Super Blue' (it's also nowhere near being blue...) in what used to be a square 5x5 cm pot. I'll leave it as is and see what happens over the next 20 days

That might actually work, I have already found one stating they supply Yorkstone.
