Re: Opuntia chaffeyi
This is the only flower it has produced in my care. I obtained a couple of plants from Michael Keissling in Germany a few years ago, both of which arrived with flower remains attached so I was hopeful I could repeat it. Not sure why it decided to flower now but judging by the amount of first timer f...

Opuntia chaffeyi
Really annoyed this flower had to open when I was at work so I only caught it closing up! The flower bud has been forming for about 6 weeks and I was beginning to think it was going to abort. Interesting plant to grow as it has a huge tuber that just keeps on growing. The plant is in an 18cm square ...

Re: Micropuntia pulchella
Thanks Ray, one of the other slim stemmed forms chucked out a flower at the weekend which was darker pink with slightly different shaped petals - both these forms were forced to have 'relations' so we shall see what happens!

These have performed well for me this year, 5 flowers from this small plant. I have several of these slender stemmed 'gracicylindrica' forms and a few more squat plants with shorter fatter stems which you can make out in the picture. Sorry its a bit blurred in places - taken in a hurry! Cacti flower...

Caught this in flower today - missed the first flower during the week. I'm no photographer but it has caught the nice rich yellow. Enjoy!

Re: Pterocactus tuberosus
Variation on a theme - (nearly) all yellow flower parts. Came to me as Pterocactus tuberosus HUN1744. The thin stems are a brownish colour.

Corynopuntia vilis
First time flowering this not often seen plant. Not really much more than rooted cuttings and I was hoping that the flowers were initially going to be new stems - but i'm not grumbling!! Really nice rich pink/purple flower. Corynopuntia villis 003.JPG Corynopuntia villis 002.JPG Corynopuntia vilis 0...

Re: Micropuntia gracilicylindrica
I don't have a secret with it. It gets the same treatment as the rest of the general collection with regard to watering and feeding. During the winter the greenhouse will get down to 4 or 5 deg. C . It is grown in the same compost mix as the rest of the collection i.e. a very open well drained mix o...

Re: Mila caespitosa flowering
Hi Ralph, The seed came from Koehres, not sure how many in the packet or how many germinated originally but I know we had about 6 plants which we have gradually sold over the last few years. Yes I think it is a very attractive plant, it seems to be wanting to stay low and not grow very upright. Hope...
