Re: Echinocactus growth spurt

There's one on the back door of my van but they're hardly ever seen for sale and seed doesn't germinate easily. I can't remember when I last saw one in cultivation. That one's looking good and unusually healthy. One won best cactus at the US National a few years ago despite looking semi-alive with n...

Re: Sulcorebutia and handwriting

The problem with the cheaper 'voice activated label writers' is that they gradually turn plants into new species. When labels are handwritten, Vasquez turns into Vasquaz and then somebody else copies it and changes another letter and gradually a new name emerges. If that sounds a little exaggerated,...

Re: I took Stuarts advice

Re: So where did I get this from….

I think you should look a little closer to home, the name of your BCSS Branch is a clue.

Re: Selling plants - Plant passports - Inspection

If clear records are kept, the cost of each visit should be limited to the approx £125 figure previously mentioned. The whole system seems to be pointless though as it only applies to distance selling and not direct selling which defeats the whole object of traceability. The extra paperwork isn't to...

Re: Spalding Cactus Mart Sat 20th April

Only just over a week to go. I'd suggest making a weekend of it and visiting Southfields on the Friday, going to Spalding Branch meeting on the Friday evening (19th April) and spending the Saturday at the Cactus Mart. Southfields is the largest cactus nursery in the UK and currently has 25% off all ...
