Thought it was an Echinocereus, but the flowers aren't very typical.

Re: Onenote or Evernote
Update as promised..... I played around with Onenote and Evernote and I've changed my mind a bit on my post above. I'm now swaying a bit towards Microsoft Onenote. To try get a level comparison I loaded up the same six cacti into both apps. Here are the screenshots. Onenote is first. Onenote.jpg Eve...

Re: Onenote or Evernote
I've loaded up Evernote, Onenote, CherryTree and a couple of others over the last few days and here are my thoughts. As mentioned above being able to list plants by name and number is a basic requirement for me. I couldn't find that option on CherryTree at all. On Onenote it's possible to search tag...

You might find this of interest: http://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/ It's an open-source (free) organiser/pim that uses a tree structure to store notes and it handles images too. I use it for lots of projects including my fledgling cactus collection. There are other similar programs (the venerable T...

Re: Useful Tips & Tricks
I struggled for years to remove dust, dirt and especially cobwebs from plants. Wasted lots of time. Then it dawned on me to use a brush. Sounds stupid I know, and I'm sure lots of ye use one already. A long soft bristled kitchen hand brush cleans cobwebs off spiny Echinocereus in seconds. Leaving th...

Onenote or Evernote
Has anybody ever tried to use either of the above to catalog their collection?
Seen both mentioned on the www, but am not familiar with either. How suitable for succulents, difficulty of use etc.
I'm aware of Cactusbase but..............

How cold do you let your greenhouse get? I've been reading about Matucana sp. recently because I've become interested in growing my own and I know I've read that prolonged cold temperatures (below 10°c) can cause browning of the epidermis I didn't know that, and would never have thought of it as th...

What is causing this? Solved
Looks like red spider mite, but I'm not so sure. The new growth is from last year, so no problems over the winter period. Has happened a lot over the years. The main plant sometimes dies, but plenty of offsets, so I never loose it as such. Any ideas? IMG_0204C.jpg IMG_0203C.jpg Side note. I don't po...
