The way to tell the genera apart is:
Rebutia: Flower tube and fruit smooth, or at most finely hairy
Aylostera: Flower tube hairy and bristly

I expect Chris may well chip in, but conophytums are easy to propagate in their growing season from cuttings. Single heads or small groups of heads are likely to be easier than woody old stems at the base of larger clumps, I reckon.

I find Aymeric's cactus seed germinates pretty well. Perhaps he got the Aloe seed in from elsewhere...Herts Mike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 9:08 am ADBPLS offered a nice range of Aloes this year but germination has been poor to non existent.
