My old Euphorbia meloformis has a single new flowery stem growing that I noticed the other day. Everything else seems quiet except one Neoporteria that had a flower over christmas.
I've seen daffodils outside in flower in Skipton, on a sheltered banking near the castle.

Re: Windowsill collection expands...
Apart from a few seedlings and two Opuntias the windowsill collection is now fully housed in my parents greenhouse, which had the wiring proffessionally put in in the beginning of the winter and is now ticking over at about 5-6 degrees C. I'm very pleased so far with the little fan and heater we got...

Hello there, and welcome to the forum
How does the winter affect you, and for keeping the plants heated? Sounds a challenge.
thanks
Matt

Re: Windowsill collection expands...
A quick post to update and apologise. Sadly some of you will know of family problems and health issues that have been creating a difficult time for us. I am keenly aware of members waiting for me to do things. Sadly I was involved in a car accident last thursday but am ok. I will be sorting things o...

Re: Start of our society.
Cheers Dave! Interesting insight. I see he got married as is mentioned in one of the newsletters I've been reading, they got a silver salver from the society. Must not have been more than a few yrs later than they left! Thanks for the info, indeed as you say, a bit like a putsch

Re: Start of our society.
I answered my own question reading very old journals. S.H. Scott was Hon Secretary of the NCSS from the 50's. There's a couple of photos of him in a few 50's newletters too. I wonder what the oldest newsletter published photo of Gordon Rowley is? I noticed a youthful photo of him in attendance at th...

Re: Those were the days!
Thanks for that info Dave, it'll help while I am looking through these folders of papers! I've found ballot papers, flyers for trips, seed and plant cataloges, all sorts really, even some membership fee receipts. The most curious items are the pre-war American journals. I don't recall that my grandf...

Re: Those were the days!
I think many forms of social history researching are now grateful to those who have saved records for the future. If the people in the public records departments in London, along with the Fire Brigades involved had decided to let the building burn then we would not have the over 5 million paper reco...

If only science had produced a home DNA testing kit! Interesting quandry though. I think you'll have to wait a while as Suzanne says.
