I bought this mature uebelmannia pectinifera from the Colin Norton auction back in October. Haven't watered it since.

It's now flowering on my sunny south-facing windowsill. Should I be watering it? Can I pollinate it with just one plant?

What about adding thermal mass, such as black barrels of water along the north wall?

Ahh thanks for that. Was sold to me without a label so assumed it was oreocereus. Good to know for next time!

Soil was bone dry but this oreocereus looks like it's rotted from the inside. Is this what overwatering looks like, or is it another problem?

"A modest spend" is a relative term! Having been at the sale, I was gobsmacked how much some people spent. There were some spectacular plants and it was in a good cause, but some buyers must have spent thousands. One appeared willing to pay £150 to £300 for every large Ariocarpus or Lopho...

The plants are great, but I also love the hard landscaping. Definitely bookmarking this as inspiration for my own dry bed.
