Re: The science of succulents

It's much clearer on the PDF version, but I couldn't attach a PDF to my post. I didn't have any space for the references either, so I had to submit them on a Word document.

I'll have a think and see if I can figure out a way to post them.

Re: The science of succulents

Hi everyone, As promised, the results of my endeavours...(as it's an image file and I think the forum software shrinks images slighty, you may have to zoom your page to make out the text) https://i.ibb.co/6rZxQsc/The-secrets-and-science-of-succulents.jpg Had I more time (ideally I should have got my...

Re: The science of succulents

Wow! Thanks everyone! I knew I'd come to the right place to ask the experts, but I wasn't expecting so much - I'm going to be very busy over the next few days! Since you're studying Health Sciences rather than Natural Science, I strongly recommend a health slant so here are a few pointers: - C...

The science of succulents

Hi everyone, I'm currently doing a health sciences degree with the Open University, and I've been taking part in an "online summer school" over the last few weeks which is completely optional, during which we've been investigating how to tell how long Kombucha's been fermenting for, silver...

Re: What is your Max / Min temperature in the GREENHOUSE?

Well I don't have a greenhouse. Most of my plants are on the windowsill in my bedroom/home office which is roughly north-facing. Temperature high yesterday was 31.5°C with a relative humidity of 34%. That was with all the windows open (outside temperature high was 30.4°C) and three fans running all ...

Re: Net curtain for preventing scorching

Daily moving of plants on an ongoing basis is a pain, and tends to lead to accidents - dropping, breaking, impaling oneself etc. It's best avoided. Gradually moving over a few days to a sunnier spot is good though. 6 feet from the nearest window is most likely 5.5 feet too far away. Once plants are...

Thanks, that's reassuring. Do I need to do anything with the plant, or just leave it to it?

Thanks,

Hair-like protrusions from stems of Sedum Rubrotinctum (Jelly Bean Plant)

I've just noticed that my Sedum Rubrotinctum (Jelly Bean Plant) seems to have sprouted some white, hair-like protrusions from some of its stems, as shown in the photos. https://i.ibb.co/gWgFj1s/IMG20220810150320.jpg https://i.ibb.co/2qm7382/IMG20220810150329.jpg The only way I can think to describe ...

Re: Net curtain for preventing scorching

Thanks. I think what I may do is try moving them just for short spells to begin with. The advantage of working from home is that I'm there all day, so can keep a careful eye on them. The C.Marnieriana is kind of between two windows, furthest away from the bedroom window, but probably around 6ft from...
