Re: Titanopsis schwantesii, Weltevrede Farm, near Goageb, Namibia
From time to time I also have observed 'bunched' petals at Mesemb flowers, not only at this species but e. g. at Aloinopsis , too. However, as far as I remember, I have noticed this at young flowers only. Maybe it's because I only have frost-hardy Mesembs in cultivation that are growing outside, so ...

Re: Pest ID please!
This looks a lot like mealy bugs, or maybe scale insects, namely their male imagos. They are rarely seen, but I'm afraid that the joy of this rare sight is not entirely undimmed ... Where there are males, females should not be far away.I would therefore check the collection (also the roots!). At lea...

Re: deflowering this lady yes or no- Sansevieria
Most (if not all) inflorescences of Sanseviera produce this 'nectar', so it's completely harmless - no indication of hidden bugs or the like.

Re: organic Mealy Bug control
Ladybirds (both larvae and adults) are generally not the best choice for fighting mealy bugs on succulents in greenhouses - their climatic needs differ too much from those of our plants: They can't stand heat, and they prefer +/- humid air. A better choice are larvae of lacewings. Unlike chemicals, ...

Re: A week in Gran Canaria
Regarding finding plant names for Canarian succulents: The best book from my point of view is 'Succulent Plants of the Canary Islands' by Joël Lodé. It seems to be almost impossible to order it from here (be it EU or UK), but You may find it quite easily in book stores of the National Parks, museum ...

Re: A week in Gran Canaria
Hello Liz, admittedly I had noticed this fine travelogue already early this spring. It brought back fine memories to me - especially, as one of my trips to Gran Canaria had started just one day before You originally posted Your wonderful pictures! However, when preparing my talk on the Canaries for ...

Re: Don't forget the On-Line talk on tuesday
Thank you Pattock! I'm glad I could contribute to this great series of talks yesterday! I was asked to mention again the website where the PDF presentations on cacti & succulents are made freely accessible (> 70!): This is http://netzmanager.de/, organised by Norbert & Elisabeth Sarnes (aka ...

Re: Bcss zoom meetings
Didn't have any problems with sound or pictures at the 'Tuesday Night Cactus Club' this week. If there should have been some delayed transfer of slides, it wasn't significant for me. But I know from other talks that this can be very different on an individual level. The heaviest delay I have experie...

Re: Plant ID Request
That's funny: I'm currently compiling pictures for my Zoom lecture on the Canary Islands for the BCSS, and I already planned to show some pictures of Kleinia neriifolia , just because it is mostly ignored. I suspect that hardly anyone gives it a closer look because it is so common ... Fine to learn ...
