Re: Copiapoa roots
When the roots grow to take up that much space I wonder where the soil goes.
Perhaps the roots eat the soil?

Re: Crassula arborescens not looking well
Unpot it & look at the roots. There may be mealy bug, if so wash off all the soil together with the mealies. Fresh soil with grit, no need for a vastly bigger pot. Brush off dead roots, you can be quite brutal, this is hard to kill. Not sure of the compost you are using, but it requires fair dra...

Re: Grit
Jondo do a very good range of grit of different sizes. OK if you can find a supplier locally to pick it up, perhaps an agricultural supplier. Delivery probably triples the price!

Re: Adromischus festivus problem Solved
What I love about adromischus if there are problems like this is that you can detach a leaf and root again, and dispose of the soil.

Field collection numbers
Rather on the late side but Cactus World and the seed list arrived yesterday. Which got me thinking ...
Have field collection references gone out of fashion? A lot of seeds on the list have location details ( but plenty do not have) but no collection references.

Re: December Cactus world is here
I received a letter postmarked 22 November yesterday. No surprise that Cactus World has not arrived. Looking on the bright side it should arrive by the end of the month. I will look out for the mentions of Lindsey Deaves, who I never met or spoke to, but thoroughly enjoyed plant exchanges with, and ...

Re: Opuntia grown outside - progress.
Very interesting and a good outdoor set up. The shelter is impressive. Due to nothing other than shortage of greenhouse space I put my aeoniums and a large opuntia outdoors in spring. They’ve never done so well but are back under cover under glass now. I’ve not seen opuntia flower outdoors in UK and...
