Not something to think about in North-West Europe, indeed. But in California the weather is probably better? Glass certainly is not very earthquake proof, so a plastic layer but be better...

It gets hot here, but not enough to form glass :)

Basically, it's a cold frame/shadehouse. It gets a plastic cover just for the winter rains. Very true, glass would not last with our earthquakes! With our warm climate we have cooling issues when glazed (glass, polycarbonate or plastic) constant venting, fans etc. Not only is it easier, but more cost effective and efficient to just cover it in cloth for the 9 other months of the year.

This was only our 2nd weekend working on it, so still lots more to go!

Hi Darryl
I'm jealous you have the space for this new addition & then you have the fun of filling it.
Is this a full time business now ?

Hi Tina,
And we pay for that space ;)
It's always been full-time for my wife, but I'm still stuck in a 9-5. Hoping that changes in the next 3-6 months. If all continues to go well, we have the room for 2 more houses.

It looks like a quality product Darryl....and an excellent installation job. What's the floor going to be?

Thanks Sue and Peter.

The floor will be done as we did in the first house. A layer of weedblock fabric laid over the existing soil with a 3-4 inch thick layer of gravel in 3/4 inch to 1 inch sizes.
