Green house woes
Hi all, just wondered if others have similar problems with rain entering the g/h. Wind in a certain direction, plus rain gives me a few problems with rain entering my g//h. Are we all 100 percent dry in this bad weather. Cheers

Re: Green house woes
I get some water coming in if the rain is blown onto the door so damp patch on floor as it seems to be coming in at the bottom of the door so no drips on plants.

Re: Green house woes
I no longer have a greenhouse: all my plants are in a conservatory. At our previous house I had an aluminium greenhouse and it had several leaks, especially in windy weather, despite my enthusiastic use of mastic. The worst ingress of water was under the frame at ground level after heavy rain.

Re: Green house woes
My old greenhouse had to have the door shut in rainy autumn weather. The prevailing direction was always into the open door.
The new greenhouse is rotated thru 90deg, so only the very end of the RHS trat gets wet when the door is open. There is a small leak under the staging at the back, but apart from that no leaks to report of.

Re: Green house woes
While my Robinson greenhouse stays dry, I've given up trying to make the other Eden types watertight, the problem is along the eaves and over the years I've tried cutting extra water channels and adding silicon mastic and nothing has worked fully, I now try to fix cut down plantpot segments to channel any water away from the plants and along the inside of the glass and down to the floor.

Re: Green house woes
Mine can let in water at the top corners of the vents. They way they are hinged there is a gap where water can blow in when it is very windy. It is worse if the channels along the greenhouse ridge get a but grunged up or blocked. One vent hardly ever does it so I think careful positioning of the vents, cleaning, and probably some silicone in just the right spots can stop it.
